Join us for a Knitting Adventure weekend on Själö, a peaceful island rich in history, just 30 km from Turku. Throughout the weekend, we’ll explore the island's fascinating past, learn about its current role, and enjoy knitting amidst breathtaking archipelago views.

Getting There:

  • Arrival: Friday, 18.10.2024, at 18:00 at Nagu Gästhamn.

  • Travel: Drive 3 hours from Helsinki or 1.5 hours from Turku. Alternatively, take the archipelago bus from Turku to Nagu City Center, then walk a short distance to the meeting point. For exact location details, refer to the Google Maps Link. If you need carpooling assistance, please let us know.

Ferry Details:

  • Departure: The 30-minute ferry, M/S Innamo, leaves Nagu Gästhamn at 18:15.

  • Arrival: There’s an 800-meter walk from the dock to the accommodation on Själö.

Accommodation:

  • Rooms: We’ll stay in 2-4 person rooms, with an option for a single room at an additional cost of 70€ for the weekend. Indicate your roommate preferences or single room request on the sign up form.

Program:

On Friday, we’ll kick off our adventure with a ferry ride from Nagu to Själö. Once we’ve settled into our accommodation, we’ll enjoy dinner at the restaurant. For those interested, there's the option to unwind in the sauna that evening—so don't forget your swimwear if you're up for a dip in the sea.

Saturday starts with a scenic knitting session for the early-birds. Bring a flashlight, seat pad, and a travel cup for a cozy sunrise knitting experience. Later, we'll take a guided tour of the island, exploring its rich history and visiting the museum church, which is usually closed to the public. In the afternoon, join our knitting book circle where we’ll discuss life at Själö through books, plays, podcasts or articles—while, of course, knitting. If you'd like to participate, please familiarise yourself with a book or other material about Själö beforehand. The day wraps up with another sauna. All meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be served in the restaurant.

On Sunday, you’ll have time to explore the island on your own. Själö offers for example several beautiful nature trails to discover. We’ll wrap up the weekend with a final lunch together before heading back to Nagu.
